New Year’s Resolutions for a Healthier You, Happier Home, and More Successful Business
For many people, New Year’s Resolutions revolve around the overall health and well being of our bodies. Some start diets while others join gyms, all hoping to start the new year off on the right foot. As important as it is to set smart goals for your body, it is just as important to focus on healthy relationships – particularly with your family. If you’re a business owner, resolutions can also be made to help further the success of your business. Read on for some New Year’s Resolution inspiration.
Exercise more.
Many folks run out to join gyms when the calendar flips to the New Year, but you don’t have to make that commitment. Just commit to getting up and moving more throughout your day, including going for walks or jogs, using any at-home exercise equipment, or even choosing to park at the far end of the grocery store parking lot instead of finding the closest parking space to the door.
Get more sleep.
Most adults require 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night in order to function optimally. Inadequate sleep has been proven to share a strong correlation with memory impairment, a lack of alertness, weight gain/obesity, skin aging, depression, heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. If quality sleep is frequently lacking in your life, there are several simple steps you can take to improve this including, implementing physical activity throughout the day, avoiding heavy meals before bed, adhering to a sleep schedule, avoiding electronics and artificial lighting before bed, avoiding caffeine/alcohol, and practicing relaxation prior to calling it a night.
Spend less time on smart devices.
In this day and age, it’s hard to find someone who isn’t addicted to their smartphone. Consider enforcing a new rule in your household if one isn’t already in place: No phones, computers, and other electronic devices at the dinner table. If it’s a family movie or game night, phones get put away and stay away. Connect by disconnecting!
Improve your business’s digital presence.
While scaling back screen time at home is no doubt beneficial for your own health and that of your family, when it comes to your business, improving your digital presence can make a big impact. If your company has a Facebook page, prioritize quality of posts over quantity. Post interesting, timely, and relevant information that prods your followers to engage. Respond to user comments so individuals know that they are being heard. Growing your digital presence will help grow your business!
